Get one, give one, pay it forward!
It's a win-win: Starfish Packages, designed and sent by Priority Mail by parent advocate Laura Collins Lyster-Mensh, are flying to families who need them. Have you or someone you know just learned that a son or daughter has an eating disorder? Don't send flowers: send a Starfish Package filled with information, encouragement, and comfort. Free packages can be claimed by any family, paid for by generous folks who pay to have them available. Availability announced every Monday but available all week.
Some families buy one for themselves and then leave one for the next family. All gifters get to have a message included for the receiver and all donors receive notice that the package has been sent with unidentifying details of the recipient, as well as any thank you messages.
This new program is the answer to the question: "What can I DO" for my sister, or my neighbor, or a stranger out there dealing with this diagnosis? What is the information they need to get started?
Omg! I got your fabulous package today and bawleddddd!!! The timing was so perfect because this weekend was hell with my daughter. We are wiped out from fatigue and barely holding on to treatment:( I must get involved with this organization! I loved everything about the package and can't thank you enough! That touched my heart way more then you can even imagine!!! Xoxoxoxo"
Colorful hope-filled package" is accurate. It has a soothing smell that is evident before even opening the package.
My Starfish Package came today!! ... I opened the mail and the first thing that greeted me was the great, relaxing smell. I feel like I could conquer the world! I love my package and would like to gift one. Please let me know how I can do so. Thank you so much for a positive way to start my day.
